14-Year-Old Killed With a Hammer After Trying to Buy Weed: Police

The body of a missing teenage girl was found. According to police reports, she was killed with a hammer after trying to buy weed.

In Texas, a teenage girl was killed with a hammer after trying to buy weed. The fourteen-year-old Kaytlynn Cargill had been missing for two days before the police found her body. The police have since identified, arrested, and charged a suspect. The details of this case are murky. What exactly happened to Kaytlynn Cargill?

The Case

14-Year-Old Killed With a Hammer After Trying to Buy Weed: Police

NBC 5

On June 19, 14-year-old Bedford, Texas resident Kaytlynn Cargill disappeared. Her parents last saw her taking their dog out for a walk. When she didn’t return thirty minutes later, they called the police and reported her missing.

According to witnesses, this is what happened after Cargill left her parents’ house for the last time. Cargill left her dog tied to a fence at a local dog park and asked another person there to watch her pet “for a minute.” She never came back, and the dog was later found still tied to the fence.

A witness, whose name has not been released because they are a juvenile, was with Cargill at the dog park. The witness, who we will refer to as “X,”  said that Cargill was going to the pool area of the apartment complex where an acquaintance of theirs lived.

X told the police that the acquaintance had arranged to give Cargill and X cannabis. The two had planned to use the cannabis to make dabs and then sell it back to the acquaintance for $300.

The acquaintance is a sixteen-year-old male. As he is also a juvenile, the police have not released his name.

X’s story was confirmed through Cargill’s text message history, which the police acquired through an affidavit after identifying the suspect.

The Arrest

Cargill’s body was found June 21 in a landfill in Arlington, Texas. The acquaintance became a suspect, and the police searched the apartment where he had been staying.

They found blood spatter in various areas, including the tile floor, the carpet, a closet door, the bathtub, and the kitchen curtains. They also discovered a bloody hammer. Forensics found Cargill’s DNA on it.

According to the police, there is also evidence that the suspect had tried to arrange an alibi with his girlfriend. She was in Alabama at the time of the murder.

The suspect was arrested Friday at a high school in Fort Worth. His bail bond has been set at $250,000.

Final Hit: 14-Year-Old Killed With a Hammer After Trying to Buy Weed

Kaytlynn Cargill should not be dead. The teenager was brutally murdered by her peer with no apparent motive.

The only thing that is certain about her death is that she was killed with a hammer after trying to buy weed. This isn’t the first time someone has lost their life due to a drug deal that ended badly.

Sadly, it likely will not be the last. As of yet, we don’t know if the suspect will take a plea bargain or go to trial with a defense attorney.
