Whoopie Goldberg Risks Career At ABC Due To Weed Business
Whoopi Goldberg’s new line of medical marijuana products could get her kicked off “The View.” The news was leaked this week by a Hollywood insider. Apparently, the executives of the daytime talk show, which airs on ABC, said they were “blindsided” by Goldberg’s move into the medical marijuana industry.
“The View is very strict about their talent not discussing their personal use of marijuana,” the source said.
“Her contract is up in August, and it could be time for them to cut Whoopi loose.”
Whoopi Goldberg joined The View in 2007. Since then, she has become a mainstay on the Emmy award winning talk show.
But now, it appears her efforts to help women treat period cramps and pains with cannabis could land her in hot water with the show’s execs.
Just last week, Goldberg announced a new line of medical cannabis products designed specifically for women. To create the line, Goldberg teamed up with pioneering female cannabis entrepreneur Maya Elisabeth.
Elisabeth has made a name for herself as the founder of an all women owned marijuana grow collective and company called Om Edibles.
Goldberg and Elisabeth call their new brand Whoopi & Maya.
The new company has created a line of four different cannabis health products designed to give women relief from pain, especially the pain that comes from menstrual cramps.
“So many women lose time at work because of cramps,” Goldberg said.

“Our topical rub is not going to get you high, but it will take your pain level from a 50 down to at least a 20. And, you can pronounce everything that’s in it.”
Goldberg is no stranger to the world of medical marijuana. She’s been a very outspoken user and supporter of medical marijuana for years.
She’s also given her involvement with marijuana a particularly female-oriented flare.
” vape pen has changed my life,” she once explained. “In fact, her name is Sippy. Yes, she’s a she. And yes, I named her Sippy because I take tiny, little sips—sassy sips, even—from her.”
“And with each sip comes relief—from pressure, pain, stress, discomfort.”
Although she may lose her job at the “The View” because of her new cannabis business venture, Goldberg’s announcement is the latest example of a woman making splashes in the wide world of cannabis culture.
A recent report found that there are more women executives in the budding cannabis industry than in any other industry.
And the increasing visibility of pot-smoking women in pop culture—women like Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Rihanna, and more—is further helping to dismantle the stereotypes that marijuana is mostly a guy’s thing.
