Last year was a big one for cannabis law. During the elections, 8 out of 9 marijuana bills passed. Four new states said yes to legalizing recreational pot and four more approved new medical marijuana laws. As a result, 1 in 5 Americans will now have access to some form of legal marijuana. But the legal landscape is always changing, and there’s still more to do. Here are the 29 states currently working on new cannabis laws or legislation.

1. Arizona

Last year, Arizona failed to pass a bill to legalize recreational use. But they’re back at it again this year. House Bill 2003 proposes to make recreational use legal for adults 21 and older.

This proposal would legalize the sale, possession, and use of cannabis as long as it’s not more than an ounce.

2. Arkansas

Last year, voters in Arkansas approved legalizing medical marijuana. But this year, there are a few bills already in the works that would slow all that down.

House Bill 1400 is designed to outlaw smoking medical marijuana. It could also make it harder for renters to smoke medical pot in their homes.

House Bill 1391 would let cities and towns choose to ban medical marijuana dispensaries and grow operations. And finally, House Bill 1392 proposes banning the production and sale of cannabis edibles.
