Cannabis vs. Kale: Which is Better For You?

Recent discoveries on the nutritional value of kale and cannabis have given them both the status of superfood. That’s right. You can eat your cannabis raw or juice it because it is a veggie. But how does it stack up against kale? We’ll go over what they have to offer to find out who wins in the battle of cannabis vs. kale.

Kale’s Nutritional Value

Cannabis vs. Kale: Which is Better For You?

Kale is rich in vitamins and vital nutrients. The superfood also contains health benefits such as detoxification, heart support, cancer prevention and more. The vitamins found in 1 cup of kale are:

  • Vitamin K (684% recommended daily value)
  • Vitamin A (206%)
  • Vitamin C (134%)
  • Manganese (26%)
  • Copper (10%)
  • Calcium (9%)
  • Potassium (9%)
  • Vitamin B6 (9%)
  • Iron (6%)
  • Magnesium (6%)

There is also protein, omega-3, and omega-6 fatty acids. The balance of fatty acids helps kale prevent the pain from chronic inflammation. On the other hand, vitamins like C provide us with antioxidants.

Cannabis as a Vegetable

Cannabis vs. Kale: Which is Better For You?

There are so many different health benefits you can get from cannabis. The effects vary depending on whether you’re smoking, vaping, downing an edible, or juicing it. Studies have found THC to relieve the symptoms of chronic pain, PTSD, and more. Another cannabinoid called CBD is nonpsychoactive and treats cancer, seizures, and more.

However, there is more to cannabis than just THC and CBD. That appeals to everyone, not just the half of the world that is ok with weed. By not heating it, cannabis retains high levels of THC-A and CBD-A. The terpenes found in cannabis also have various health benefits.

CBD-A has been found to inhibit cancer cell migration in breast cancer patients. When combined with THC-A there are anti-inflammatory effects. Alone THC-A can help with seizures like CBD or help regulate the immune system.

William Courtney, MD has been praising the advantages of raw cannabis for years. He is a member of the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine, the International Cannabinoid Research Society, the International Association of Cannabis as Medicine, and the Society of Clinical Cannabis.

He claims that “you are actually walking away from 99% of the benefits cannabis provides” when you cook or smoke weed. The doctor recommends juicing 15 leaves and 2 huge buds of raw bud per day. The fresher the weed is the better because many of the beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes are lost during the drying and curing process.

Cannabis Vs. Kale: Who Wins?

Both have a nice balance of omega 3 and 6 and they’re both high in antioxidants. However, the weed seems to tip the scale with way more health benefits in total.

While it’s hard to deny the nutritional value of kale, cannabis seems to be capable of so much more. Even if we just compared raw cannabis to kale there are more available nutrients in the untouched pot. Cannabis is a complete protein whereas kale provides a small percentage of our daily needs.

There is much more concrete evidence of cannabis’ ability to fight diseases than there is for kale. Kale is definitely packed with an array of vitamins and minerals but if we’re giving out a crown cannabis is king.
