Crohn’s Disease Can Be Treated With Cannabis And Here’s How

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. The symptoms of this disease can include abdominal pain, fatigue, diarrhea, intense weight loss, anemia, and soreness in the muscles and joints. However, it is possible that these symptoms can be alleviated by cannabis, and can be cured.

Crohn’s Disease Studies

Studies and experimental evidence show that the molecule, endocannabinoids, which is found in cannabis plants plays a significant role in limiting intestinal inflammation. The research also shows that people who had bowel problems, such as Crohns’s has higher levels of cannabinoid receptors.

This means that cannabis can trigger the receptors in the body that are needed to cure or alleviate Crohn’s Disease and it’s symptoms.

These cannabinoids are also known for their ability to bind themselves to certain cancer cells, and kill the cancer cell itself. In extreme cases of Crohn’s disease, colorectal cancer can be the underlying cause of all harsh symptoms. However, cannabis oils have been found to shrink cancer cells and regulate the size of cannabinoid cells.

According to a different study, 13 patients with Crohn’s disease were watched for a little over three months as patients inhaled cannabis smoke to try to alleviate Crohn’s harsh symptoms.

All 13 patients were said to have a better quality of life because smoking cannabis helped limit the frequency of diarrhea and helped with weight gain.

Crohn’s Disease Treated With Cannabis

Cannabis not only can in some cases cure inflammation in the intestines, but also can help ease the symptoms.

Weight gain is one the main problems that comes with Crohn’s disease. Weight loss happens due to a lack of appetite, nausea, or intense abdominal pain. Cannabis however can be a natural and herbal remedy for these symptoms.

Cannabis increases the want to eat and regulates a patient’s appetite. Similar to anorexia, a patient who doesn’t eat regularly because of intestinal pain or nausea will lose their natural appetite due to psychological fear.

Cannabis can naturally lower this fear of food because of the THC and CBD compounds in the plant itself. These compounds control receptors in the brain that trigger anxiety or fear. The “munchies” from cannabis will soon kick in and will return appetite to it’s normal amount.

Also, for symptoms that cause physical pain, marijuana is a much more natural and safer remedy that opioids. Cannabis doesn’t create  withdrawal symptoms, like that of morphine or other opioid drugs do. The effects of cannabis are much more relaxing and pain relieving, but without the dangerous side effects.

The science is clear, cannabis can cure and alleviate the symptoms of Crohn’s disease.
