8. Large Container and Shovel
To make fertilizer with everyday household items, you’ll need to start with a large container. Make sure it’s made of something durable that you can drill holes into and that can still hold a decent amount of weight.
You will be using this container as a DIY composter. Start off by using a drill or something sharp to punch a series of air holes into the container.
Air circulation is key to good compost, so be sure you give it plenty of room to breathe. Once the bin is ready, you can toss in plant waste like leaves, grass clippings, and even stuff from your kitchen.
Every so often, use a shovel to turn over the accumulated materials. Add water from time to time to speed up the decomposition process and create especially rich compost.
When the food scraps and plant material have broken down into something that looks more or less like soil, it’s ready to use.
Mix it into your soil before planting a cannabis plant. Or add it to an already-growing one. This will give your plants tons of all-natural nutrients. Compost also helps build up healthy and dynamic soil.
A Couple Quick Notes: Since things are decomposing, you should keep your compost bin outside.
Similarly, keep animal waste, meat, and dangerous weeds away from your compost. There are plenty of organic materials you can find at home to use as a homemade cannabis fertilizer.
