Did Heath Ledger Smoke Weed?

Before his untimely death, Heath Ledger delivered some of the most memorable performances of all time. But did he also smoke weed?

Before he passed away, did Heath Ledger smoke weed? According to police and toxicology reports, prescription drugs played more of a role in his death than illegal ones.

Who is Heath Ledger?

Heathcliff Andrew Ledger was an Australian actor and director that died in 2008. Before his death, he won awards for his role in “Brokeback Mountain.”

He also managed to give viewers the greatest on-screen Joker of all time. “The Dark Knight,” which hit theaters the same year he died was the last movie he finished filming.

The cause of death was ruled an accidental overdose. The substances in his system did not include cannabis.

“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine,” Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the chief medical examiner said.

“We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”

Puff or Pass?

Did Heath Ledger Smoke Weed?

So let’s get to what you came here for. Did Heath Ledger smoke weed? There seems to be some evidence that says he did.

Entertainment Tonight purchased a video of Heath Ledger at a drug-fueled party. After receiving backlash for promoting the video, they ended up choosing not to air it.

In any case, Ledger apparently revealed some of his weed habits to fellow partygoers in the controversial video. At the party, the late actor claimed that he hadn’t smoked weed in ten months.

In the video, Ledger said, “I used to smoke five joints a day for twenty years.” He then points to a tattoo dedicated to his daughter and added: “that’s a reminder for me not to smoke weed.”

So it sounds like Heath was once an avid cannabis consumer until he was convinced it was the root of his problems.

However, he didn’t seem opposed to abusing prescription pills and other more harmful narcotics before he died. Maybe he didn’t know what most people now know about pot today.

It’s not nearly as bad as we were led to believe in the past. In fact, since his death, several states have legalized it for recreational uses, and it’s more accepted now than ever before.

Perhaps the negative stigma and the fact that cannabis is illegal caused him to believe that smoking weed was bad for his daughter.

However, he suffered from insomnia which caused him to develop a sleeping pill addiction that played a part in his death.

Heath Ledger’s death should be a reminder of the fact that many legal prescription drugs are far more harmful than cannabis which remains federally illegal. Cannabis has been used to treat insomnia, and it is impossible to overdose on weed.

Final Hit: Did Heath Ledger Smoke Weed?

There is enough evidence to say, yes, Heath Ledger did smoke weed. It used to be a big part of his life until he felt it was keeping him from his daughter.

Unfortunately, the legal drugs he used are what took him away from her. Many people still rely on prescription sleeping pills like Ambien while the safer alternative is kept federally illegal.
