You must be wondering: Does Tim McGraw smoke weed? The country music sensation hasn’t let on much about any possible cannabis use, but that’s not to say he hasn’t toked up before. Plenty of country music stars have admitted to smoking some ganja, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if McGraw was one of them.
Who is Tim McGraw?
In 1989, McGraw dropped out of college in to pursue a career in country music. He decided to pursue his dreams after the death of his country music star, Keith Whitley.
After hearing McGraw’s recording demo, Curb Records decided to sign the artist to a deal in 1990. He released his self-titled debut album the following year.
McGraw’s next album “Not a Moment Too Soon,” was highly successful. It became the best-selling country album of 1994. His second single off the album, “Don’t Take the Girl,” became McGraw’s first-ever number one country hit.
It also reached as high as number 17 on the Billboard’s Hot 100. The album as a whole sold over 6 million records and topped both the Billboard 200 and the country album charts.
His next album, “All I Want,” was released the following year, and debuted at number one on the country charts. It also managed to reach the top 5 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release.
A year later, McGraw headlined the most successful country tour of the year, The Spontaneous Combustion Tour. There, he met Faith Hill. The two began dating during the tour. They were married by October of that year.
In 1997, McGraw released the album “Everywhere,” which reached number two on the album charts.
His next album, “A Place in the Sun,” opened up at number one on both the country and pop music charts. The album was his first number one opener on the Billboard 200 charts.
Some of McGraw’s other hit albums include “Set This Circus Down,” “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Let It Go,” “Two Lanes of Freedom,” and “Damn Country Music.”

Puff or Pass?
So does Tim McGraw smoke weed? After extensive research, there isn’t much to suggest McGraw is a regular cannabis smoker. However, McGraw has admitted to substance abuse problems in the past, namely alcohol.
In McGraw’s own words, he claimed to have “partied too much,” and said he was a frequenter of drugs and alcohol.
“I partied too much. And did other things too much. Chemically. No needles or that kind of stuff, but…use your imagination,” he said. “When your wife tells you it’s gone too far, that’s a big wake-up call. That, and realizing you’re gonna lose everything you have. Not monetarily, not career-wise, but family-wise.”
It’s unclear if he was referencing weed, but one could assume that if he were into the party scene, he would have taken an occasional toke here or there. Now, McGraw says he’s totally clean and has replaced his former vices with daily exercise.
Final Hit: Does Tim McGraw Smoke Weed?
It seems all but certain that McGraw isn’t a weed smoker. While he might have in the past, it appears he has sworn off substances.
McGraw has never explicitly said he’s one of these people, so we’re still going to have to go with a “no” on this one. But who knows, maybe he smokes on the low.
