This season has proven to be yet another banner summer for Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Reminiscent of when her first huge hit “Call Me Maybe” crawled into our ears, it seems that everywhere you turn, CRJ has bequeathed us with her divine, sublime presence. (I’m personally listening to her new track “Your Type” right now. Full disclosure: I’ve been listening to it all day.) But if you’re looking for news about Carly Rae on this site, it’s probably safe to say you have one question on your mind. (We’re not going to insult your intelligence by spelling it out.) So, does Carly Rae Jepsen smoke weed? Or rather, does she smoke weed maybe?

Who is Carly Rae Jepsen?

Superstar Carly Rae Jepsen first had her first major breakthrough back in 2007, when the songwriter and actress placed third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol. (Yeah, I didn’t know that was a thing, either.) She then reached international audiences with her first single “Call Me Maybe” in 2012, which went on to become the best-selling single of that year. Since then, Jepsen has gone on to release three albums, and has collected numerous Grammy and Emmy nominations.

Most recently, Jepsen came out with a new single for her as-of-yet-untitled upcoming album. The song, titled “Cut to the Feeling,” has received wide acclaim, and the power-pop ballad has been heralded as her best work to date.

But back to the main subject at hand: does my personal Canadian lord and savior Carly Rae Jepsen dabble with the doobs? (I mean, it’s legal there, right?) Let’s take a hard look at the evidence.

Puff or Pass?

A quick Internet search unearths some pretty compelling evidence in favor of the theory that Jepsen is a fan of the green. In an online clip from the Pitchfork TV web series Over/Under, the greatest export from America’s Top Hat rated random topics like weddings, crying in public, tanning salons, and more for the delight of the general public, CRJ perused the subject of weed cookies.

“Weed cookies are great,” Jepsen told Pitchfork. “Underrated. You gotta only put a little bit in…otherwise, watch out. Less is more in those situations.”

(She also rated celery as “a pointless vegetable,” so girl has a point.)

Final Hit: Does Carly Rae Jepsen Smoke Weed?

So does Carly Rae Jepsen smoke weed? While there’s no hard evidence that she partakes on the reg, it’s pretty safe to say that she’s recreationally consumed cannabis in the past. (And if you want to take her comments on weed cookies and interpret it as an implication, we won’t stop you.) We’ve veering more towards “confirm” than “deny,” but until the pop icon says she smokes weed explicitly, we can’t technically draw any conclusions.
