Does Kenny Chesney Smoke Weed?

He’s a country music legend, but does Kenny Chesney smoke weed? Let’s find out if the leader of No Shoes Nation is also a cannabis enthusiast.

You’re probably wondering: Does Kenny Chesney smoke weed? He’s one of country music’s biggest stars today, but could he also be a secret cannabis enthusiast?

Who is Kenny Chesney?

The 49-year-old Chesney was born on March 26, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He began performing at local clubs in the late 1980s and recorded a self-released demo album in 1989.

He signed his first record deal in 1993 with Capricorn records, who had just recently started a country division.

His first album “In My Wildest Dreams” was released in 1994. It sold 10,000 albums before Capricorn Records closed its country music division in Nashville.

Chesney then signed with BNA Records and released a new album in 1995 titled “All I Need to Know.” The album spawned two top-ten hits, and Chesney was beginning to make a name for himself.

In 1996, Chesney released “Me and You,” which became his first certified gold album. His next album “Everywhere We Go” produced two number one singles in “How Forever Feels” and “You Had Me From Hello.”

Chesney released a Greatest Hits album in 2000 and followed it up with “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” in 2002.

From that album, “The Good Stuff” spent a whopping seven weeks at number one, and was voted Billboard’s number one country song of the year.

In 2004 Chesney released “When the Sun Goes Down.” The album won the CMA for Album of the Year. Chesney also won the Entertainer of the Year Award and the AMA for 2004’s Artist of the Year.

The following year he released two albums: “Be as You Are” and “The Road and the Radio.” By 2007, Chesney had won CMA Entertainer of the Year three out of four years.

Other hit albums of Chesney’s include “Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates” (2007), “Lucky Old Sun” (2008), “Hemingway’s Whiskey” (2010), “Welcome to the Fishbowl” (2012),
“Life on a Rock” (2013), “The Big Revival” (2014), and “Cosmic Hallelujah” (2016).

Puff or Pass?

Does Kenny Chesney Smoke Weed?

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. Does Kenny Chesney smoke weed?

To date, he’s never explicitly mentioned smoking cannabis. But there are some clues within his music that seem to prove otherwise.

Traditionally, weed has been a taboo subject in country music. But several country music artists have started branching out from the traditional values.

Chesney appears to be one of them, as he’s referenced weed in several of his songs. In the song “Til It’s Gone” Chesney appeared to talk about smoking weed in one line.

“Gonna take a deep breath and hold it in.” While this is clearly referring to embracing the moment, it could also be a reference to smoking some ganja as well.

In his song “French Kissing Life,” Chesney makes a much less subtle reference to smoking. “I’m floating ’round through Gorda Sound with a cooler and a bong.” There are no double meanings in that line.

Final Hit: Does Kenny Chesney Smoke Weed?

Although Chesney hasn’t been very outspoken about whether or not he smokes weed, it looks like he could be a smoker on the low.

He could just be trying to appeal to a different demographic with his music. Alternatively, it could also be a clue that he enjoys the occasional toke or two.

Cannabis references are becoming more and more commonplace in country music. Hopefully, Chesney continues to talk about weed in his music so that it will become far less of a taboo subject.
