A family in Arlington, Virginia was surprised to find a package sitting on their doorstep.
They’d just moved into the house, were still new to the neighborhood, and weren’t expecting anything like this in the mail.
The parcel got even weirder when they discovered that it didn’t have any return address or label—it was just a blank cardboard box.
They were even more surprised when they finally opened the mysterious box and found what cops were quoted as calling “a green leafy substance.”
To be a bit more precise, this family had come home to find 7 pounds of weed sitting on their doorstep!
After realizing what had shown up at their front door, the family immediately called the cops, who confiscated the box of ganja and turned the investigation over to the U.S. Postal Service.
“They found a package on the door, no return address or anything,” Arlington Police Department spokesperson Christopher Cook said.
“The family was a little shook up and surprised. They don’t want anybody obviously coming looking for a package now.”
As of now, neither the Post Office nor the Arlington cops have any idea who left the box, or who the box was really intended for.
Reporters said that the house had been vacant for a few months, so it seems like a pretty good chance that it’d become somebody’s drop off spot.
“We thought it might be someone in the area who was shipping packages to the house,” said Cook.
“This is not the first time this have ever happened. We know there are illicit activities that occur in the U.S. mail.”
Obviously, it might not be a great idea to get in the middle of whoever’s trying to ship that much marijuana around, but what would you do if that much sticky just appeared out of thin air and landed on your doorstep?
