Kief cookies could very well be the most underrated edible in the world. It’s rare for people to talk about them and even more rare to actually make them. But the truth is that kief cookies are some of the simplest, best-tasting, most potent edibles you can make. Here are two methods for making your own kief cookies.
Raw cannabis does not actually have active THC in it. Instead, it has a chemical called THCA. But when plant matter is heated, the THCA breaks down into active THC, the stuff that gets you high.
When you decarboxylate weed, you’re exposing it to enough heat to activate all the THC.To do this, place your kief in a small baking dish. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
When it’s up to temp, put the kief into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove the dish and let it cool back to room temperature. Now your kief is ready to use, and you’re all set to start baking some world-class kief cookies.
The first method for making kief cookies is as easy as it gets. Here’s what you will need:
Start out by rolling the cookie dough into 16 balls, about the size of a golf ball. Next, pick up one of your dough balls and gently press your thumb into it so it makes a little depression or well.
Use a measuring spoon to measure out 1/8 teaspoon of kief. Dump it into the depression you just made in the cookie dough. Now squeeze the dough back into a ball.
As you do this, you can gently knead the dough to incorporate the kief throughout as much of the dough as you can. But don’t worry too much. Things will spread out as the dough bakes.
You just want to be sure all the kief is mixed into the center of the dough ball. After you’ve added kief to all 16 balls, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
While the oven is heating up, arrange the dough on a cookie sheet. They should be roughly two inches apart. Bake them for 10-15 minutes until they’re golden brown and gooey. Take them out of the oven, let them cool, and enjoy.
For this one, you are going to make kief butter first and then use that as the base for your cookie dough. As it turns out, kief butter is much easier to make than regular cannabutter. Here’s what you will need:
As always, start out by decarboxylating the kief. Next, put the butter in a pot, place it on a hot stove, and melt it. Then add your decarboxylated kief and stir.
As soon as all the kief is dissolved into the melted butter, take it off the heat and let it cool. You can now store it in an airtight container in the fridge or even freeze it for later use.
Once you’ve got a nice batch of kief butter all cooked up, it’s time to make your favorite cookie recipe. If you don’t have a fave, start with the one on the back of a bag of chocolate chips.
Simply substitute your kief butter for the regular butter. Bake the cookie dough like usual and enjoy your medicated treats.

As with any weed edibles, go slow at first. Eating weed is very different than smoking or vaping it, and if you’re new to edibles, things can sometimes get a little weird.
