Want the slow burn of papers with the huge bowl hit of a bowl or pipe? You can roll a pipe joint to get the best of both worlds. Amateur rollers might assume this one takes a bit of skill. However, with a few more steps than rolling a simple joint, you’ll have yourself a pipe joint. We recommend this style to intermediate joint rollers. The joint pipe is a great way to share the bowl experience without having to constantly repack it.
Before Things Get Rolling
Before you get things rolling you’re going to want weed, a grinder, a table or rolling tray, a bic lighter, and scissors. It’s optional but we recommend using a glass filter tip as well. You’re going to be smoking for a while and you don’t want the mouthpiece clogging up.
How to Roll a Pipe Joint
We broke down how to roll a pipe joint into four simple to follow steps.
Step 1: Roll a Joint
Roll a cone or straight joint with a filter tip in it to start. Cut the tip off at a 45-degree angle.
Step 2: Make the Bowl
Before the bowl and joint combine to make a pipe joint you’ll have to form the bowl. Grab a piece of paper and your bic lighter. Wrap the paper around the bic with the sticky side facing in. Lick your finger and touch the non-sticky side of the gummed strip. That will help the bowl hold shape without unraveling.
Next, cut the sticky part of a new piece of paper off. Lick it and put it over the seam of the bowl so it definitely holds shape.
Step 3: Combine Them
Cut a slit on one side of the sticky part of the bowl you just made. This will be the bottom of your bowl. Stick the joint through the slit. Lick the sticky paper at the bottom of the bowl and shut it so that the joint is at the bottom of the bowl. After this step, your pipe joint is ready to be packed.
Step 4: Pack and Smoke the Bowl
Use your finger to gently open up and shape the bowl. Finally, grind more weed and pack the bowl to the top. Then you can spark it and smoke it like a bowl.
Final Hit: How to Roll a Pipe Joint
If you followed the above steps properly you should be ready to smoke a joint pipe. No bowl at the party? No problem. You can now make your own with a few pieces of paper and some weed. You can also swap out papers for cigar wraps to make a pipe blunt. Just roll a blunt and form a similar bowl with cigar papers. The blunt is better for sharing with larger groups of people. It will get smoked slower so you can enjoy it for longer. Roll a pipe joint or blunt to level up your joint rolling skills and impress your friends.
