10 Ways To Clean A Grinder And Save Kief

9. Brushing
You can use a toothbrush, small paint brush, or makeup brush to clean a grinder. A brush can also help sweep any kief that’s hiding in the crevices of your grinder.
In fact, brushing the screen of your grinder will help slide kief into the bottom chamber. The brush is also perfect for getting in between the teeth and grooves of the grinder.
If you wait too long before cleaning your grinder, a brush probably won’t be enough. In fact, some parts will be too sticky or hard to be brushed off without further assistance.
We recommend freezing the grinder for about a half hour before brushing to make the kief fall off easier. Brushing the middle chamber will also help push kief through the screen, but if it doesn’t, you may need a new screen.
Luckily most new grinders have easy to remove and replace screens in various sizes. A finer mesh screen won’t let as much plant matter into the kief chamber. However, it’ll catch kief a lot slower.
If you’ve got an old grinder with a permanently fixed screen and your kief chamber stays stagnant, it may be time for a new one. After brushing there may still be some stubborn chunks of plant matter or resin. Use one of the following methods to finish cleaning your grinder.
