Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Goop’ Is Launching A Weed Product Line With MedMen

Gwyneth Paltrow smokes weed, drinks weed-infused cocktails and now, she’s selling it at one of the biggest dispensaries.

Lifestyle magnate/Hollywood A-lister Gwyneth Paltrow has made no secret of her love of weed. Back in May, Paltrow told Howard Stern that she “sometimes” smokes weed. And Goop, her lifestyle brand, often publishes recipes that include cannabis and openly discusses it in their publications. Now, Paltrow is putting her money where her mouth is: Goop just announced that they’ve partnered with high-end dispensary MedMen to launch a Goop-curated product line.

Goop and MedMen: A Match Made In Holistic Heaven

In Goop Health is a conference hosted by doctors, teachers and public figures who discuss the latest wellness trends. At June’s event, Paltrow announced a partnership with MedMen dispensary, with a host of marijuana experts in attendance.

These culture-shifting giants have come together to create a Goop product wall at MedMen’s Venice dispensary. The lifestyle brand will be promoting weed products including Papa & Barley’s Releaf CBD Patch, cannabis-infused teas from Kikoko, Défoncé matcha chocolate bars, bath bombs from Kush Queen, and Beboe’s Sativa Blend Vaporizer Pen.

Both the Oscar-winning leading lady and MedMen look forward to a weed industry-redefining partnership. “It really has the potential to shift old patterns of thought and change lives, and I feel like we really could be on the precipice of something a lot bigger than we realize, scientifically,” Paltrow told conference attendees according to The National Marijuana News.

Daniel Yi, MedMen’s SVP of Corporate Communications, explained to Forbes that Goop, a female-centric brand, could offset weed’s less than inclusive reputation. “Historically speaking the industry has been male-dominated on both the consumer and business side, so it just makes sense,” Yi said.

Making Marijuana Mainstream?

Goop was an early adopter when it came to CBD, and even has a whole guide to CBD cocktails (and many CBD-infused recipes). More than that, they’ve established a woman-focused publication that goes beyond their signature newsletter. Through pop-up stores, health and fashion lines, and unconventional interviews with a variety of experts, Gwyneth Paltrow has become a voice in wellness.

Neither Goop nor MedMen is the place for affordable options. However, the lifestyle giant’s forée into cannabis could evolve an industry working to involve women and older demographics. Gwyneth Paltrow could normalize cannabis for people suffering from weed stigmatization, like women with careers, children and disposable income.
