5 Reasons Why Health Insurance Should Cover Medical Marijuana

Health insurance is supposed to help patients get access to health care. So why are there so many obstacles to getting medical marijuana?

4. Spreading legalization

Currently, there are twenty-nine states in the country with a medical marijuana program. With a little luck and a lot of legislation, the entire nation could have medical marijuana programs. If and when cannabis becomes federally legal, the people who need it most will be able to access it from legitimate sources like dispensaries.

As medical marijuana continues to spread, it will become easier to find doctors who are licensed to prescribe it. It would make sense for health insurance companies to support medical cannabis and make the decision to cover it.
