These Idiots Left Weed In Their Pockets When They Donated Clothes

Let’s be honest, this is one of those headlines you see people sharing on Facebook. Well, unfortunately, the people that leave weed in donated clothes do exist.

 What a Waste

This bout of forgetfulness happened in the small city of Maplewood, Minnesota. Which, by the way, has a population that amounts to roughly 0.5% of the population of New York City at about 40,000 people.

The lucky finding happened at the local Once Upon a Child, as employees sifted through the daily pile of donated clothes. First of all, Once Upon a Child? Really? Not the first suspected choice for finding weed in a pair of forgotten jeans.

Minnesota Background

Now it’s important to first mention that Minnesota is not yet a state where marijuana is legal. However, lawmakers are making an effort to legalize the drug, and legislation has been introduced to do so. While no serious headway has happened yet, representative Jon Applebaum of Minnetonka is confident that the process will become legalized for users 21 and up by the year 2019.

Blame it on the High?

So far it’s known that some idiot donated a pair of donated clothes to a Once Upon A Child in Minnesota. What hasn’t been addressed yet is the fact that it was 100 GRAMS (111 to be exact). That’s a 1/4 pound of weed, just casually forgotten. Not only that, but it was reported that the weed was neatly divided into separate plastic bags, ready to go.

It seems obvious that someone who had that much marijuana in their possession, neatly divided, would never “forget” it intentionally. However, how was that bulge ignored?? Whether you’re an avid stoner or a dealer with OCD, that sort of baggage is not something that is noticeably forgotten.

There is one last bit of information to this story that is intriguing. The Maplewood Police Department posted this post to Facebook in search for the forgetful toker, with this post:

“If you accidentally donated 111 grams of marijuana along with your clothing earlier to a local store please come to the PD so we can reunite you! We know you spent a lot of time dividing them into these perfectly measured baggies & must be missing them”. (Argus Leader)

To make sure they covered all their bases, they also released a statement on Twitter, saying: #VRA Hey genius, Once Upon A Child thanks you for the clothing donation, but you forgot something in your pant pockets… sucks to be you…” (Argus Leader)

Even after all that, no one has come forward to claim the weed. I guess those sarcasm-drenched posts from Maplewood PD is enough to scare off even the most hardened smokers.
