8 Ways To Put Your Leftover Stems To Good Use

Wondering What To Do With Those Leftover Stems?

Smoking leftover stems is a bad idea. Agreed? Not only does it give you an awful headache and doesn’t really have any psychoactive components left after burning, but the THC levels in burned stems are virtually non-existent.

So you’re basically subjecting your body and especially your lungs to all this nasty smoke for nothing.

But does that mean you have to throw away all those leftover stems you carefully separated from the flowers? No! If you’re someone who cringes at the thought of being so wasteful, this guide is for you.

As it turns out, there are plenty of uses for leftover stems. Finding productive ways to use this plant material helps you get the most out of your stash. Here are eight genius ways to use this extremely versatile plant’s stems.

1. Brew Yourself Some Tea

When you’re wondering what to do with cannabis stems, and brewing them in tea is the first thing that comes to mind, that’s probably because it’s the easiest thing to do.

Because there isn’t a lot of THC in the stems, the tea isn’t going to be super strong. So don’t expect a high high.

Instead, it’s going to be the kind of mellow, relaxing experience that will slowly put you to sleep. Ideal for nighttime, especially for those who are into the whole herbal-tea-before-bed routine.

In fact, when you brew your tea, you could pair it with your favorite herbal tea. If you’re looking to relax before bed, chamomile or lavender tea could be excellent combinations with weed stems.

To make this tea, start by cutting your leftover stems lengthwise. Make sure the center of them is exposed. Or if you prefer, you could grind them using a regular cannabis grinder.

Don’t forget to clean your grinder from time to time so you can harvest the leftover kief. You might even be able to use it to roll a super potent joint.

Next, you need to decarboxylate the plant material. This is the process through which heat converts the cannabinoid THC-A into the psychoactive THC we all love so much.

To do this, bring a pot of water to a boil and drop the ground- or cut-up cannabis stems into it. You have to let it steep for 24 hours to release whatever THC the materials still contain.

You could heat it up with herbal tea, or just add a few drops of lemon juice. This tea can be served hot or cold.
