10 Politicians Who Support Cannabis Legalization

It’s hard times for weed lovers in most of the country. We’ve got Attorney General Jeff Sessions working hard to keep it illegal. He even believes that “good people” don’t smoke cannabis (Yeah, okay, Jeff). And recently, President Trump has been making confusing statements about his stance on weed. But hey, what else is new? It’s hard to find politicians who support cannabis.

But that doesn’t mean we weed lovers should give up hope. Already medical cannabis is legal in 29 states and Washington D.C., while recreational bud is legal in eight states and D.C. (take that, Sessions!). Not to mention, there’s a bunch of politicians in office right now who fully support making weed legal in one way or another. Here are 10 politicians who support cannabis legalization, including a few who may surprise you. (Let’s hope we see more politicians who support cannabis soon!)

10. Elizabeth Warren, Senator (D-Mass)

10 Politicians Who Support Cannabis Legalization

Senator Elizabeth Warren has been vocal for years on a number of important issues, from LGBTQ+ rights to abortion rights. So it’s little surprise the senator is one of the politicians who support cannabis legalization. During a radio interview with Boston’s WTKK-FM back in 2012, she said: “If there’s something a physician can prescribe that can help someone who’s suffering, I’m in favor of that.” Which is awesome, because we know that weed helps with a number of cancer symptoms, including appetite loss, pain, and nausea.

She also asked the CDC to help stop the war on drugs in 2016, stating that weed is a great way to combat the opioid epidemic. Go Elizabeth!
