Activist Group Builds World’s Biggest Joint to Protest Pot Laws

Activist and artists in Washington, D.C. are hard at work constructing what’s got to be the world’s biggest joint, in support of marijuana law reform.

Activists and artists in Washington, D.C. are hard at work constructing what’s got to be the world’s biggest joint. They plan to use it as part of a protest that will take place this weekend.

The joint was created by artists Cesar Maxit and Chris Ridler. Unlike regular joints, this one’s made out of plastic and will work basically like a huge balloon. When it’s fully inflated, the world’s biggest joint will be just over 50 feet long.

But don’t worry, sources have said it’s not just for decoration.

The plan is to carry the world’s biggest joint onto Pennsylvania Avenue and toward the White House this Saturday as part of what pro-pot activists are calling a “smoke-in.”

The artists are working to figure out how to install a fan inside the balloon that would blow huge clouds of marijuana smoke out of the world’s biggest joint and into the crowd of protestors.

And if that doesn’t work, they said they’ll use the joint as a giant hot box. If they go with this option, people at the event could go inside, zip themselves in, then light up.

The entire project is part of a huge “smoke-in” planned to take place right in front of the White House this weekend.

The action is aimed primarily at protesting President Obama’s unwillingness to move forward on progressive marijuana law reforms.

Earlier this year, Obama said he would not make marijuana laws a priority for his final year in office. The announcement was met with frustration by many in the cannabis community.

To protest what they see as Obama’s failure to make any positive changes to marijuana laws in the U.S., organizers have invited anyone in favor of legalizing marijuana to join them this Saturday in front of the White House.

At 4:20 p.m., protestors at the action plan to openly smoke marijuana in an act of civil disobedience.

Many who plan on attending have already said they’re prepared to be arrested.

Pro-pot activists have said that the protest is designed to speak out against not only Obama’s failure to change federal marijuana laws but also the fact that pot law enforcement has been considerably strict during his eight years in office.

Roughly five million people have been arrested on marijuana-related charges during Obama’s tenure.

President Obama’s Administration has also spent more money raiding legal marijuana dispensaries than George W. Bush’s Administration did.
