Conor McGregor has taken the world of MMA by storm. And not just because he’s put together arguably the most impressive record in the sport’s relatively short history.
He’s also become the sport’s ultra-stylish poster boy. Combining swagger and eye-catching fashion, McGregor has become more than just a world-class athlete. He’s become a pop cultural icon.
And last year he added to his edgy, bad-boy persona by posting a picture to Instagram of himself smoking a J. It had the caption: “we run New York.”
The photo immediately grabbed peoples’ attention. But fortunately for McGregor, it didn’t get him into any real trouble.
That’s because the UFC had just changed some of its drug rules. The most relevant change had to do with permissible THC levels.
The UFC’s new rules provide more leeway for athletes to consume pot casually. As long as they don’t show up for a fight stoned they’ll probably be fine.
