Strangest Places People Have Found Weed
Since cannabis is one of the most widely used drugs in the world, it tends to pop up all over the place—sometimes in the most unexpected locations. From ancient burial sites to innocent looking fast food boxes and just about everywhere in between, here are the 5 all-time strangest places people have found marijuana:
1. Buried with an ancient mummy
In 2008, archaeologists were amazed when they found two pounds of marijuana buried with an ancient mummy.
The burial site was a 2,700-year-old grave in the Gobi Desert, in northern China.
This find confirms that humans have been getting high for a long, long time.
2. Stashed in a Happy Meal box
An eight-year-old girl in Chicago got an especially happy surprise in her McDonald’s Happy Meal.
When she opened the box, she told her parents that she’d found three “toys.” It turns out they were a lighter, a pipe, and a bag of marijuana.
Apparently, a man working at the McDonald’s had tried to hide his stash by dropping everything into a Happy Meal box. The only problem with his plan was that he chose a box right next to the drive-thru window.
3. Hidden inside a painting
In 2010, an 80-year-old man in Cherokee County, Georgia bought what he thought was just a lovely painting at a post office auction.
A short time later, he decided to re-sell the piece. That’s when he discovered four pounds of marijuana hidden inside the frame of the painting.
This is pretty much an absolute dream come true for potheads everywhere. But instead of keeping the pot, the man turned it over to authorities.
4. Crammed inside a spare tire
A woman in Ohio was in for a big-time surprise when she took her car in to get new tires. The mechanic working on the car noticed that the spare tire was making weird sounds.
When he took a closer look, he discovered 8 pounds of weed all wrapped up in plastic and crammed inside the tire.
Investigators said the car had originally been assembled in Mexico.
They guessed that it had initially been intended as a smuggling vehicle, but somewhere along the line things must have gone wrong. The car eventually ended up on a used car lot in the middle of Ohio, where the unsuspecting woman bought it.
5. Mixed in with french fries
In 2014, a Maryland woman took her kids to lunch at Sonic. When she dug into her meal, she was surprised to find a little bag of weed mixed in with her order of french fries.
For a real stoner, this discovery would have immediately made that the best day of all time. But for this woman, it was no laughing matter. She was furious.
It turns out that one of the employees at the fast food chain had been keeping the weed in the front pocket of her apron.
While putting the woman’s order together, the bag fell out her apron and into the french fries. The woman got a refund and a new meal. The employee was fired.
