Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

Super Lemon Haze is one of the most popular strains in the world thanks to its success in Cannabis Cups and its delicious, pleasant, sweet flavor. It is motivational without being speedy and has a balanced body effect thanks to the blend of influences in its lineage. This candy-like strain is nicely versatile and can be consumed any time of day or early evening.

Super Lemon Haze from Amsterdam’s Green House Seeds is one of the most popular and award-winning cannabis varietals worldwide over the last 10 years. It’s balanced effect and sweet citrus candy flavor makes it an easy crowd favorite in both flower and concentrate form. At the same time, it’s fairly quick flowering time, genetic stability, and robust structure makes it a favorite with growers too.

Super Lemon Haze Lineage (Lemon Skunk x Super Silver Haze)

Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

Super Lemon Haze combines a famous Lemon Skunk clone from Las Vegas with a select Super Silver Haze father. It was created by notable Dutch cannabis breeding firm Green House Seeds before the 2008 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup, in which it took home 1st Place.

You can say that it followed in the footsteps of its “father”, Super Silver Haze, which was also a highly-decorated varietal also from Green House. This strain has been widely available as seed for many years and therefore users should expect variation from different providers.

SLH is fairly stable and expresses many of the same traits thanks to the dominant Lemon Skunk mother. That plant contributes its sweetness, large bract size, and uniform trichome structure, which is evident in most from-seed Super Lemon plants.

Appearance

Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

Super Lemon Haze is usually quite bright green with thick, pumpkin orange stigmas (often incorrectly called “pistils”). It has a generous coating of very uniform trichomes that have pronounced heads which clearly sparkle in the light.

The buds are slender and have large bracts (often incorrectly referred to as “calyxes”) with little leaf coverage compared to most strains. Depending on phenotype and feeding style, it can also sometimes form rounded tops. In general, the looser and more pointed the structure is, the more Haze influence that can be expected.

Like most modern cannabis, it is a hybrid of multiple varieties but exhibits “sativa” growth traits, namely thinner leaves and an overall slender flower structure.

Aroma

Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

SLH is known for its strong yet exceedingly pleasant lemon candy aroma. It is creamy, sweet and also should get quite a bit more pungent when broken apart.

The buds are usually very sticky rather than dusty thanks to the high terpene content. SLH is an easy strain to love.

Unlike some varieties that tend to be polarizing (some people love them, others hate the smell), the appreciation of Super Lemon Haze’s scent is almost universal.

Flavor

Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

One of the strains that translates aroma directly into the flavor, Super Lemon Haze’s smooth and sweet quality is legendary.

Best of all, as it is burned, it makes the room smell pleasant and floral. The sweet lingering smell is one of the hallmarks of a proper Dutch Haze varietal.

It is also likely a familiar smell to anyone who has walked the streets of Amsterdam and caught a whiff from one of the coffee shop doors.

Effect

Super Lemon Haze Strain Review

Due to the balanced hybrid qualities of the Lemon Skunk mother as well as the Northern Lights #5 and Skunk #1 parentage in the Super Silver Haze father, SLH has a very rounded mind/body effects package suitable for nearly any time of day or night.

It’s very contextual and tends to adapt to its surroundings. Most users describe it as relatively clear-headed and motivational, great for daytime use. However, unlike a lot of thin-leaved varietals, Super Lemon Haze provides a very balanced and smooth body relaxation along with its slightly euphoric, uplifting mental effect that lasts hours.
