Most Voters Think Legal Weed Would Make America Great Again

Do most voters think legal weed would make America great again? According to a recent survey, the majority agrees it would positively impact society.

Earlier this week, the American people’s opinion on legal weed was brought to light. According to a new survey released Monday, most voters think legal weed would make America great again. In fact, 57 percent think it would make society better while 69 percent don’t see legal weed ever being problematic to them. The Survey detailed how Americans feel about cannabis today.

The Survey

According to the most recent Harvard-Harris survey, 86 percent of Americans agree that cannabis should be legalized in some form. People have voted to legalize the plant in 29 states and Washington D.C.

The survey asked Americans if they thought weed should only be legalized for medical uses. Only 37 percent agreed. At 49 percent, nearly half of voters said cannabis should be legal for both medical and recreational uses. Many voters believed legalization would reduce drug-trade and crime as a result.

“Voters point to drugs as the major source of crime and support tough sentences for drug dealers but view marijuana in a wholly different light,” a co-director of the survey, Mark Penn, said in a statement. “Most think legalization of marijuana would probably be helpful in reducing crime and almost half support legalization.”

The People Have Spoken

72 percent of voters don’t believe people caught with small amounts of weed should be prosecuted or face any jail time. Unfortunately, Attorney General Jeff Sessions continues to ignore what the people want with his attempts to crack down on legal weed. He cites an increase in crime as his reason for cracking down. According to the survey, most voters-60 percent-do think crime is going up. 40 percent of them blame drugs. However, weed may not be one of the drugs they perceive to be wreaking havoc.

The rest of the statistics from the survey clearly illustrate most voters think legal weed would make America great again. Even Trump’s top strategist is trying to get the President on board with legalizing cannabis. He’s not alone. New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is a Democrat that introduced a bill on Tuesday that would remove marijuana from the Schedule 1 list of the Controlled Substances Act. “The Marijuana Justice Act of 2017” would also expunge all existing weed-related arrests. 89 percent of people arrested for marijuana law violations were charged and arrested for possession in 2015.

Final Hit: Most Voters Think Legal Weed Would Make America Great Again

Most Voters Think Legal Weed Would Make America Great Again

Most voters think legal weed would make America great again. Only 14 percent of Americans still think marijuana should be completely illegal. How many more Americans have to be convinced before legalization actually happens? It seems like just about everyone other than Jeff Sessions and the few industries lobbying against medical marijuana are for legalization. With more American people, politicians and advisers to the president advocating for legal weed, the day we’ve all been waiting for may be coming soon.
