10 Best Snacks To Eat When You’re Stoned

The munchies are a part of every cannabis fan's life. These are the best things to eat the next time you're high and desperate for some snacks.

If there’s one stereotype about cannabis that holds true, it’s that getting high will often make you hungry. This phenomenon is called “the munchies” and pretty much everyone experiences it. Some clever and entrepreneurial Girl Scouts have even capitalized on it. But if it’s the Girl Scouts’ off-season and you can’t satisfy your Thin Mints craving, here are the next best snacks to eat when you’re stoned.

10. Fresh Fruit

When it comes to the best snacks to eat when you’re stoned, can you think of anything better than a bowl filled with fresh berries, kiwi, and mango? You probably can’t, because there are very few snacks that are better than fresh fruit, especially when you’re stoned. There’s just something about the combination of bright colors and sweet flavors that hit your brain’s pleasure center just right. Speaking of mangoes, did you know that eating mangoes before or during your smoke sesh can actually enhance your high? P.S. Top your mango slices with lime juice and chili powder. You’re welcome.

9. Popcorn

Whether you buy the pre-packaged stuff or go the old-school route and pop the kernels over a stove, we can all agree that popcorn is a classic snack for everyone. It’s easy to make, easy to share, and in the grand scheme of things, not totally unhealthy. To wow your friends with your mad culinary skills, amp up your homemade popcorn with a blend of cumin and smoked paprika.

8. Celery and Peanut Butter

Think back to the snacks you loved as a kid. A lot of them are the same that you choose as a stoned adult, right? Being high can often bring back a child-like sense of curiosity and wonder. Why not bring out your inner child with celery topped with peanut butter? Add some raisins to it, and you’ve got ants on a log—tasty and healthy. Nice.

7. Kale Chips

We know, we know: kale chips are expensive AF and going to Whole Foods while you’re stoned can be dangerous. There’s a whole episode of Broad City about it. But there’s a reason they landed on our list of the best snacks to eat when you’re stoned. Kale chips are delicious and super easy to make at home. Just spread it out on a cookie sheet, drizzle over some olive oil, give it a dash of salt, and bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

6. Slurpees

Sometimes the best snacks to eat when you’re stoned are actually drinks. It’s summer and you know what that means: Heat! Humidity! Luckily, the good people who supply convenience stores have given us a solution. Slurpees (and Icees) are brightly colored, carbonated drinks made from slush and artificial flavors. It might not seem like much on the surface, but when you’re stoned, have the munchies, and are suffering from cotton mouth, Slurpees are heaven in a cup.

5. Gummies

Gummy candy comes in many forms, but let’s be real: Gummy worms are the far superior choice. While you’re in 7-Eleven buying a Slurpee, pick up a pack of Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers or Haribo Twin Snakes. Your taste buds will thank you.

4. Cosmic Brownies

Obviously, we had to include a brownie on this list. Especially one called a “cosmic brownie.” While these Little Debbie treats aren’t infused with weed (unfortunately), they will have you soaring. Mostly because they’re overwhelmingly sweet. (But if you are looking for some cannabis brownies that will blow your mind, give these MoonRocks brownies a shot.)

3. Nachos

Nachos can either be incredibly simple or a work of culinary genius. And the best part is, they’ll be great any way you make them. Melt some Velveeta onto tortilla chips in the microwave? Awesome. Layer chips with black beans, avocado, salsa, and freshly grated jack cheese? Awesome. Whatever floats your boat and requires the least amount of effort—you don’t want to work too hard when you’re stoned, after all.

2. Sweet Potato Fries

Once a staple of hipsters and health nuts, sweet potato fries have come a long way. You don’t even have to order them in a restaurant anymore. You can buy frozen bags of them in bulk. Or make your own. Chop up a sweet potato, toss in some olive oil and salt, and bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit until they are nice and tender.

1. Chex Mix

There are currently 13 varieties of Chex Mix, each fitting into the categories of salty, sweet, and sweet ‘n salty. So basically, there’s a Chex Mix for everyone. Each pack contains a mix of Chex cereal, and usually rye chips, nuts, and mini breadsticks. The combination of flavors and textures have made Chex Mix a stoner staple for decades.
