The most well known of anti-anxiety drugs is Xanax, but there are others that accomplish the same goal. These drugs are prescribed to treat anxiety and panic disorders. While effective, they come with a host of adverse side effects.

Patients may experience drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, impaired coordination, vertigo or even hallucinations when using Xanax. Like with painkillers, the potential for abuse is high, and addiction, overdose, or even death are all possibilities when dealing with this type of drug. In fact, medications of this class are so strong that you can even die from its withdrawal symptoms.

Fortunately, the same cannot be said of marijuana. And when it comes to cannabis, it has been shown to be an effective anti-anxiety medication as well. That’s because it contributes to the part of the brain that regulates anxiety – and it does that job very well.
