Here’s Why You Should Use A Hemp Wick When You Spark Up

When it comes to sparking up, few people pay much attention to one of the essential parts of the equation: the fire. They think any old flame will do. But the flame you use matters, even if you never thought about it. That’s why you should be using a hemp wick if you care about your health at all.

For most of us, the Bic lighter is the go-to item for blazing. Lighters combust butane, and there’s plenty of reasons why you don’t want to breathe that stuff in all the time.

Need convincing? Check out this slow motion video of a lighter being lit. Yeah, you want all that stuff in your bowl on your fresh buds of Blue Dream?

Sure, the video is amazing to watch when you’re stoned. But you probably don’t want all those fiery flecks of flint flying into your weed.

Butane is a highly flammable gas. It’s usually mixed with other chemicals so that it has a noticeable odor and burns better.

In general, it’s safe to use. But product testing probably doesn’t involve lighting up bongs.

And according to Wikipedia, inhaling butane can cause a whole host of adverse effects, from drowsiness and narcosis to asphyxia, cardiac arrhythmia, fluctuations in blood pressure, temporary memory loss and even frostbite.

So if you want to avoid the risks of inhaling all that butane, consider using a hemp wick for better-tasting butane-free bowls.

Hemp wick is a waxed hemp string that is usually bought as a wound ball. The wax used is most commonly beeswax.

In other words, hemp wicks are all all-natural and far less harmful when burning than butane gas.

The beeswax provides a controlled burn and helps the string keep its form when wound into a ball.

If you want to look really like a pro, wrap the wick around your lighter. That way, you’ve always got it with you for a puff on the go.

And in fact, using a hemp wick will not only make your bowls taste better, but it could also make them stronger!

Butane burns at a high temperature, much higher than the temp you need to decarboxylate your cannabis.

What you end up doing with a hot flame is destroying many of the cannabinoids that are going to get you high. Not ideal. Since hemp wick burns at a lower temperature than lighters, they are less likely to destroy so many cannabinoids. Theoretically, you’ll get more stoned. Either way, there’s nothing to lose!
