This Doritos Bag Can Play The Guardians Soundtrack

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 is one of my all-time favorite movies, and as the hype got bigger and bigger for Vol. 2, I couldn’t wait to hit the theater. However, Doritos took it to the next level with this latest Guardians publicity stunt.

A Full Soundtrack?!

This collaboration between Doritos and Marvel Studios allows buyers to plug their headphones into a jack built into the bag, and proceed to listen to the entire Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack. Seems like that might be crazy, right? First of all, click

First of all, click here to get a better visual. It’s as simple as plugging in headphones, pressing play on the retro-looking cassette player on the front, then rocking out! Afterward, you can recharge and play the songs again. I apologize to those of you that already bought the (now super boring and plain) Vol. 2 soundtrack on iTunes.

What’s the Point?

Marvel and Doritos have built a strong relationship through varying deals and publicity collaborations. As a result, this extremely innovative release was to give fans something different.

The soundtrack from the first Guardians of the Galaxy hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first ever to do this with a tracklist consisting entirely of previously released songs. With success like this from a movie soundtrack, they had to push the envelope. This great idea mixed it up and set the bar for other similar movie releases in the future.

The Music

The music has a similar variety as the first movie. Including country, pop, R&B, and rock from the 60s through the 70s. there’s a great variety. The soundtrack is 14 songs, listed below:

“Mr. Blue Sky” – Electric Light Orchestra
“Fox on the Run” – Sweet
“Lake Shore Drive” – Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
“The Chain” – Fleetwood Mac
“Bring It on Home to Me” – Sam Cooke
“My Sweet Lord” – George Harrison
“Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” – Looking Glass
“Come a Little Bit Closer” – Jay & the Americans
“Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang” – Silver
“Surrender” – Cheap Trick
“Father and Son” – Yusuf / Cat Stevens
“Flash Light” – Parliament
“Southern Nights” – Glen Campbell
“Guardians Inferno” – The Sneepers, David Hasselhoff

Especially relevant is ‘Guardians Inferno’. If you don’t recognize that song, it’s actually a David Hasselhoff original recorded specifically for the movie! (True Marvel fans will even get the Sneepers reference).

How it Works

So basically the movie player is aligned with the cassette facade from the inside, with the music player encased in foam within the bag. Some users have noted that the player will often misalign with the outside “buttons”, making it a bit of a pain to have to continually realign from the inside.

The Doritos are separated into a smaller Doritos bag within the larger outside one. As if a music-playing bag of chips wasn’t enough, the bag even lights up like a disco light!

What is great about this nifty bag of chips is that Stoners will love it! It satisfies munchie cravings and lets you listen to retro hits while stoned, leading to a wonderful variety of euphoric sensory overloads. That being said, the lights are just the cherry, adding some trippiness to your high in case that was lacking.
