Meet The Eco-Friendly Pot Strains That Swept San Francisco’s Latest Cannabis Competition
The Patients’ Choice Marijuana Competition held its 9th Annual showdown in downtown San Francisco last Saturday.
A public pot competition sounds like a dream to many Americans, but it’s just another holiday weekend for San Franciscans. Growers gathered from all over the state to submit their most pungent, tasty, artisanal, high-TCH strains of marijuana flowers.
Sweeping the competition, C.R.A.F.T Collective’s unique, small-batch, and eco-friendly flowers took first place in every category.
The Berkeley-based Collective, which has a “Clean Green” certification for its sustainable, pesticide-free growing operation, accepted a shelf of crystal trophies Saturday evening at the chic Terra Gallery in SOMA.
So who were the winning weeds?
C.R.A.F.T.’s “Raspberry Cookies” won first in the Indica strains category. Their “Super Lemon Haze” won the Sativa category. For best Hybrid strain, C.R.A.F.T. took home first for “Tahoe Chem,” while also winning the High CBD category with their “CBD OG”.
Several hundred medical cannabis aficionados mixed and mingled at what’s become the Bay Area’s most intimate, best-orchestrated weed event.
What makes the Patients’ Choice unique is in the name. While most Cups are celebrity or industry-judged, patients chose the winner of the Patients’ Choice each year.
Anyone who buys a Judge’s Pack — which costs several hundred dollars — becomes eligible to vote in the Bay Area-focused competition. The day-long cannabis exhibition was paired with local food, and entertainment.
Non-Judges could still enjoy the promised and much-anticipated “half-pound joint,” rolled up with more than $900 worth of OG Kush. True to form, The Green Cross staff sparked up the massive J at 4:20p.m.
Edibles were also part of the competition, with IncrediMeds taking the Best Medical Edible trophy for their Milk Chocolate Bar with Toffee Pieces. IncrediMeds also took Best Sativa and High CBD edible.
