Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past five years or so, you’ve probably heard of the rapper Logic. The lyrical mastermind first garnered popularity with his early mixtapes, Logic: The Mixtape, Young, Broke & Infamous, Young Sinatra, Young Sinatra: Undeniable and Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever.
Considered one of the best lyricists in the game, Logic has become more and more mainstream of the years, especially after the release of his three studio albums, Under Pressure, The Incredible True Story, and Everybody. One of Logic’s most endearing factors has been his ability to rap about meaningful things in an eloquent manner, giving us some shades of old-school hip-hop blended with today’s slower, more relaxed tempo.
It’s also no surprise that Logic is a pretty masterful freestyle, considering his near genius-ability to string together lyrics. What is a bit surprising, however, is one of the major themes of his latest freestyle—weed. We all know that Logic smokes weed, but he hasn’t necessarily been associated as a “weed rapper” a la Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg. However, after hearing his new freestyle joint, perhaps we may have to re-think that notion.
Logic Spits Maryjane Freestyle On Tour Bus While Rolling A Blunt
Again, it’s no secret that Logic likes to toke up. He’s been pretty candid about his weed use over the years. Logic has admitted to suffering from anxiety in the past, and using the plant as a form of medicine. It’s also probably no coincidence that he’s one of the more open-minded rappers out there.
His new “Mary Jane Freestyle” seems to be the culmination of it all. Especially, while watching the video.
In the shot, he’s breaking down weed while freestyle rapping. There are also backwoods blunts on the table. Put two and two together, it’s pretty safe to assume he’s in the process of rolling a blunt while rapping about weed. He also manages to shout out Wiz Khalifa in the verse, again, one of the most well-known “weed-rappers” in the game.
“I know what it means, as I’m breaking down the greens. Feeling like Wiz Khalifa when I chief-a the reefa…”
You know what, we’ll just stop right there. You’re probably better off listening to it to yourself, rather than having some white boy try to make a transcript of it. You can listen to Logic’s flow below (talk about bars):
