Mom Throws Beer and Weed Sleepover Party For 12-Year-Old Kids

A case of Coors Light and a “Hello Kitty” pipe filled with marijuana is not what most parents have in mind when their preteen sons and daughters have a sleepover party with friends.

But that’s just what a group of 12- 14-year-old who attended a beer and weed party at Mandy Wells’s house found waiting for them.

Mandy Wells, a mother from Springtown, Texas, told police that she “thought for a minute the sleepover party was a bad idea” but “did it anyway.”

After she threw the cannabis and alcohol filled bash for a group of preteens, one of the party’s attendees — a 13-year-old girl — told her mother about the incident, prompting her to call police.

Two other children who spent the night at the sleepover party also came forward to tell investigators that they drank beer and got high smoking pot provided by Mandy.

When the 32-year-old was questioned by the police as to why she was providing minors with drugs and booze, she said that she “kept them under control”.

She admitted that the middle school students got high “but none of them required medical attention”.

Wells’s daughter, a 14-year-old, suffers from depression, and her mother admitted to treating her daughter’s depression with marijuana, claiming her prescribed medication did not work.

But police claim that Mandy had more than her daughter’s wellbeing in mind, saying that

“Mandy was more concerned with protecting the identity of her marijuana supplier than the welfare of the children that had been left in her care.”

Wells’s children were removed from the house before the police searched it and they are currently placed under the care of the state.
Despite research supporting the medical benefits of cannabis for patients suffering from depression or anxiety, scientists have found that for young people especially, marijuana can be quite harmful to their brains.
