5 Different Ways To Make A Weed Grinder

Looking for a grinder? What if you simply don’t live near any headshops? Have no fear. This article will show you 5 ways to make a grinder in a pinch.

5. Tobacco Can & Screws/Staples

5 Ways To Make A Grinder In A Pinch

This method is for the craftier smokers out there. It’s basically a design for making a grinder that works more or less like regular grinders you’d buy in a smoke shop. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • an old cleaned out tobacco can
  • something to punch holes through the can
  • screws
  • construction staples (optional)

Start by carefully punching a series of small holes into the bottom of the tobacco can.

Tip: Make the holes smaller than the screws. This will help make a tighter seal between the screws and the can and will reduce the chances that herb or kief will fall through.

Now insert screws through the holes, so the sharp ends are pressing through into the middle of the can. Do the same thing to the lid of the tobacco can. But be sure that the holes in the lid aren’t perfectly aligned with the screws you just punched through the bottom of the can. If they are, you won’t be able to close your grinder.

After inserting the screws into the lid, you should be able to close the tobacco can like normal, only now there’s a bunch of sharp screws poking into the center of the can. Drop some nugs into the can, shut it, and turn the lid just like you would with a traditional grinder.

You can do this same thing, but with heavy duty construction staples instead of screws. You can even use staples at the bottom of the tobacco can and screws in the top. Do some experimenting and see what works best.

The Final Hit

At the end of the day, it’s well worth buying a real grinder. And there are now more grinder options than ever before. There’s everything from electric grinders to self-dispensing grinders and super efficient grinders that won’t get gunked up by resin. If you’re going to spend all that money on weed, you might as well cough up the few extra bucks to get a decent grinder.

But if you ever find yourself in a pinch, you can always MacGyver you’re way out of it using one of these techniques for throwing together a homemade grinder.
