Oscar-winning actress and lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow continues to speak openly and unapologetically about her “sometimes” marijuana use. Paltrow’s latest comments about cannabis came on her recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show.
“It’s legal now in California,” she reminded listeners during a conversation about her engagement to Brad Falchuk, a television writer, director, and producer best known for Glee and American Horror Story.
But cannabis wasn’t on the menu at Paltrow’s star-studded engagement party. Still, the actress does like to smoke weed sometimes. She has even spoken publically about the health benefits of CBD and medical cannabis in her lifestyle and wellness magazine Goop.
Gwyneth Paltrow: Cannabis Health Guru?
Gwyneth’s Paltrow’s confession on The Howard Stern Show should come as no surprise to anyone following her lifestyle brand Goop.
On many occasions, Paltrow has used her platform to espouse the health and beauty benefits of cannabis. In early January, for example, she posted four delicious cocktail recipes on her blog, each calling for a generous splash of CBD oil.
CBD oil is a cannabis product made by extracting cannabidiol from marijuana or hemp plants. Unlike its psychoactive cousin THC, CBD doesn’t make you high. But studies suggest it may have potent medical and health benefits for humans.
CBD oils and tinctures are extremely popular in California. It seems virtually every lifestyle guru in LA has endorsed some kind of CBD concoction. Why not cocktails?
Last year, Goop ran a cover story featuring a lengthy interview with Paltrow. The magazine even included a photo of Paltrow sporting a vape pen filled with CBD extract.
During the interview, the conversation ranged from wellness to environmentalism to Paltrow’s favorite detox routines. The interview also touched on cannabis, with Paltrow expressing her support for medical cannabis and California’s legalization of the drug for adult use.
“What’s really interesting to see, with all the legalization of marijuana happening, is how there’s evidence that it can be helpful in a medicinal sense for people. That it can really be an alternative pain management system, and, in some cases, helpful for depression,” Paltrow told Goop.
Gwyneth Paltrow Smokes Weed—Well, Sometimes
Although she ‘fessed up when Howard Stern pushed her to talk about her cannabis use, Gwyneth Paltrow wasn’t so revealing about the hows and the whens. “Sometimes,” was all she told Stern. And no, she didn’t smoke weed with her engagement party guests, which included Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon, according to People.
Kate Hudson “doesn’t smoke because she’s pregnant,” Paltrow told Stern. “We weren’t smoking weed though. Not at the engagement party.” But, somewhere else, maybe?
