CBD, the non-psychoactive component in cannabis, has seen a major influx in popularity over the past year or so. Between CBD’s wide array of medicinal benefits and an almost non-existent array of side effects, the cannabis component has proven to be something both marijuana proponents and detractors can squash their differences over —for the most part.
The UK—which, at first, was a bit hesitant to embrace the plant-based medicine, has seen CBD sales skyrocket after legalizing it a little over a year ago. One company in particular —Holland & Barrett, has seen its sales figures increase dramatically, with a recorded 37% sales increase over the past fiscal year. Now, they’re set to introduce a new item to their wide selection of CBD products—CBD water.
First Major UK Health Retailer Is About To Start Selling CBD Water
Starting Monday, the company will begin stocking the CBD-infused water on its shelves.
Love Hemp Water will become the first-ever spring water infused with the cannabis component. The water is made by pressing hemp leaves and cannabis flowers together. The beverage contains very little THC—likely around .2 percent, and will not get the user high. In addition to Holland & Barrett, the water will also be sold at Ocado, an online supermarket.
The product will be available in two different sizes—500 ml and 1.5-liter bottles.
The move also comes on the heels of renewed speculation that the UK is moving closer to legalizing medicinal marijuana. After seeing the plant in action during the controversial case of Billy Caldwell, a 12-year-old boy that suffers from epileptic seizures, more and more proponents are urging the UK to change their stringent policy.
Additionally, the World Health Organization has done extensive research regarding CBD water. Unsurprisingly, their findings have shown that the water can provide a variety of health benefits.
Love Hemp Water’s co-f0under Tony Calamita believes that CBD’s increasing popularity could be attributed to the wealth of knowledge, and corresponding research surrounding the component. Overall CBD sales have doubled since its UK inception: going from 125,000 people to 250,000 just this past year.
“There’s a growing understanding of the wide-ranging benefits of cannabis oil to health and well-being which is why we have launched the first every day hemp water product,” Calamita said.”Each 500ml bottle of Love Hemp is sugar-free and contains 2mg of natural hemp extract. It tastes great and is naturally hydrating. We’re proud to be starting a hemp water revolution.”
