Cannabis infused olive oil is soon to become your new go-to cooking oil. It is good for you and goes well with everything! Here’s a guide on how to make your own and become the next Italian cannabis cooking maestro.
Getting Started on Cannabis Infused Olive Oil
If you’ve read other guides on making infused butters and oils, then you know that the process is straightforward. This particular guide will be following Monica Lo’s Sous Vide technique for cannabis infused olive oil.
The first thing you’ll need to do is get two mason jars (or canning-specific jars) and pour the olive oil evenly into both. The next step is to decarb your cannabis flowers.
There are multiple ways to do this, but for this just go ahead and first spread them evenly on a baking sheet. Preheat your oven to 310 degrees. Cover the cannabis tightly with aluminum foil.
Once the oven is preheated, stick the baking sheet in and wait about 5-10 minutes (or 10-18 mins if using raw flowers or trimmings). Be sure to let it cool once it is taken out.
Once you have your decarbed flowers, add them to the mason jars with the olive oil. The next step is the sous vide bath. To make this, simply heat water in a deep pot to 84 degrees.
Cap your mason jars and gently place them into the water. Let them sous vide for 4 hours. Once this is done, simply strain out the cannabis with cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer and you’re good to go! Be sure to let the oil cool, and then it can be stored in a cool, dry place.
And there you have it! A simple process to make a very versatile oil. Not only that but with this method you hardly have to deal with weed smell while you make it. Bon Appétit!
