Learning how to roll a shotgun shell joint is about as easy as learning how to roll a normal joint—you just need way more weed. When it’s finished it should look like a shotgun shell.
Before You Start Rolling
Rolling a shotgun shell joint is only harder than rolling a regular joint because you’ll need to fit a lot more weed into it. If you’ve got a bunch of weed you want to smoke in one sitting you should roll a shotgun shell joint.
They’re not required but we recommend a grinder and rolling tray. You’ll be working with a lot of weed so grinding it all by hand will take a while. There’s also bound to be more spillage and mess, so use a rolling tray to prevent any weed from falling where you can’t retrieve it.
Step 1: Grind Your Weed
Grind up all your weed to a consistency that isn’t too fine. Otherwise ground material will fly through your giant filter tip and into your mouth.
Pull out any stems to avoid holes being poked through your shotgun shell joint while rolling. Once you have at least an eighth ground up you’re ready to move onto the next step.
Step 2: Stick Two Papers Together
To make sure there’s enough space for a large amount of weed you need to combine two pieces of paper to make a wider joint.
Lick the sticky side of one of the papers and then attach the bottom of the other paper to it. If it’s too wide you can use scissors to cut some of the excess paper off or leave it all there and roll a super fat shotgun shell join
Step 3: Create A Super Filter
You’ll need at least four pieces of filter paper to roll a joint filter tip that won’t let weed through. Don’t cut the size of the filter down. Curl each one until a small cylinder with about a half inch of uncurled paper is left at the bottom.
Put the filter tips into pairs of two. The two cylinders should be directly next to each other with their uncurled ends facing the same direction.
Now take the two pairs and put them together. Make sure the uncurled ends are on opposite sides. Curl them down on each side to create one big cylinder that has four smaller ones inside of it.
Step 4: Fill & Roll
The rest of the process isn’t unique. You just fill the giant joint and roll it in the same way you would a regular-sized joint.
Don’t worry about making it perfect. Just try to get it as tight as you can without trying too hard. Once you seal it shut you can use the back end of a pen to pack it down and add more weed if you want.
Final Hit: How To Roll A Shotgun Shell Joint
If you’ve completed the steps above you know how to roll a shotgun shell joint. A shotgun shell joint will smoke with more airflow than your typical joint and will give you way more smoke.
What did you expect when stuffing all that weed into it? Roll a shotgun shell when you’re bored with friends and you guys are in the mood to smoke a joint.
