America’s favorite potato chip seemingly pumps out new flavors every other week, and they’ve just released a cool new eight flavors to their stacked lineup. In honor of the upcoming flavors, we’ll be pairing weed strains with the 8 new Lay’s chip flavors.
Although these exotic new flavors sound delicious under any circumstances, being high would certainly be ideal. It’s no secret that we make some of the boldest concoctions when we’re medicated, and Lay’s might have gotten the memo. So let’s take a look at some of the best weed strains to pair with the 8 new Lay’s chip flavors.

Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice
Strain: OG Kush
The first new flavor is Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice— a chip with deep routes to the Maryland/Old Bay area. If you’re a fan of crab-flavored chips, well, this is certainly one for you.
We decided to go with OG Kush for this one—a classic weed strain for a not-so-classic potato chip. OG Kush is an indica, that will give you a strong, couch-lock high—perfect for munching on potato chips. It’s also known for its tendency to give its users the munchies, so in this case— bet you can’t eat just one bag.
Fried Pickles with Ranch
If you really like to ranch it up, you have to try Lay’s fried pickles with ranch blend. Finally, the guilty pleasure appetizer of choice has made its way into a convenient at-home snack. Sure, you can make fried pickles yourself, but if you’re really stoned on the couch, are you telling us that you want to go through all that trouble?
Obviously, the best strain to pair with this flavor has to be Pickle—the semi-obscure sativa-heavy hybrid. The strain is known for treating anxiety, depression, chronic pain and muscle spasms, but it’s the cerebral effects that really make the strain a mystery. When smoked, it contains a distinct dill pickle-esque taste, perfect to pair with a pickle-flavored chip.
New England Lobster Roll
Strain: New England Skunk
Lobster Rolls are undoubtedly one of the priciest snacks out there, so opting for it’s cheaper, potato-chip iteration might be the way to go for snack food enthusiasts on a budget.
Especially if most of that budget is allocated towards bud.
If you’re opting for the New England Lobster Roll chip, you might as well pair it with a New England-based strain—New England Skunk. It’s a pretty rare strain, so if you can’t get your hands on it, maybe try classic Skunk. But if you want that full New England experience, this might be the pairing for you.
Strain: Cheddar Cheese
Sure, Pimento Cheese isn’t one of the more well-known cheeses, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make for a damn good potato chip flavor. It’s described as “the taste of creamy sharp cheddar with a hint of cayenne pepper.”
So, why not pair it with the popular Cheddar Cheese strain, an even 50:50 hybrid with a plethora of mind and body numbing effects. It has a sharp, skunky, cheddar cheese aroma that should fit in nicely with your afternoon snack. If you can’t find the Cheddar Cheese variety, look for any strain with a cheesy terpene profile.
Deep Dish Pizza
As long as we’re sticking with the theme of cheese, let’s get to Lay’s new Deep Dish Pizza flavor. Sure, it’s not much different than a regular pizza-flavored chip, but Chicago’s pizza is known for its layers of cheese, so we decided to pair it with none other than Cheese, the indica-dominant strain that’s a mixture between Afghani and Skunk. Like Cheddar Cheese, it has a strong, sharp scent, that should go well with the pizza-flavored delicacy.
Cajun Spice is bringing all of your favorite Louisiana herbs and spices into one Bayou-inspired potato chip. If you’re going Mardi-Gras style, you might as well pair it with another staple of the state—Gumbo.
Gumbo is a hard-hitting indica that will either put you to sleep or give you a serious case of the munchies.
Chile Con Queso
Strain: UK Cheese
This is the last of the cheese strains, we promise.
It’s just hard to resist pairing a cheese-flavored chip with a corresponding cheese-flavored strain, so we decided to once ago in that direction. UK Cheese is one of the original cheese strains, and it’s known for its musty, sharp scent, as well as the euphoric, energetic high it gives off. It’s a little ‘spicier’ of a flavor than the other cheeses, which makes it the perfect match for Chile Con Queso. This one might not necessarily give you the biggest case of the munchies, but if you’re looking to fiesta all day long, this would certainly be a good choice.
Thai Sweet Chili
Last but not least we have the Thai Sweet Chili, which is allegedly inspired by the Pacific Northwest’s food truck scene. The Thai strain is an obvious pairing, not only because of, well, the word “Thai,” but because of the uplifting and euphoric high the strain gives. It’s also typically grown in tropical, outdoor climates, so if the chips don’t give you any of that Thailand flare, this strain certainly will.
