Snoop Dogg’s Fried Chicken Recipe is Dank AF
While most old-timers remember Snoop Dogg as strictly a “gangster rapper”, it’s hard to deny that the platinum-selling musician isn’t a jack of all trades these days and his chicken recipe is no different. He’s been an actor, a WWE-Hall of Famer, and most recently– an acclaimed chef. Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past year, you have probably seen that the world’s most famous ganja-smoker has his own cooking show with the one and only Martha Stewart.
If you haven’t seen the show, the two already have an incredible chemistry between them. And while they’re cooking techniques often times do not mesh, the contradicting styles and personalities make for some A plus television.
Perhaps Snoop’s most infamous recipe on the show was the fried chicken he debuted in the series premiere– a unique twist on a classic munchie food. It’s definitely not like anything you’ve had before, and it’s obvious only a true stoner would be able to concoct such a bizarre recipe. That’s not to say it’s bad, however. It’s actually unbelievable. So we’ll go ahead and teach you how to make Snoop’s infamous fried chicken. You’re gonna wanna get good and high for this one.
What You’ll Need
Although Snoop wasn’t all-too-explicit in the episode about the ingredients, (he referred to one ingredient as “Reo’s secret seasoning”) this is what we were able to decipher:
- 5 lbs of chicken wings
- Heavy cast iron pot
- 1 Quart of Vegetable Oil
- Lawry’s seasoning
- Lemon pepper
- Barbecue Potato chips
Note: the Barbecue Potato chips are a MUST. It’s literally not Snoop’s fried chicken without them.
How to Cook Them
What makes Snoop’s recipe so great, is it only takes about 45 minutes to an hour to make, including the 15 minutes of prep time. Most fried chicken recipes can take several hours, and Martha Stewart’s in the very same episode took a total of six hours and forty minutes. Imagine how much weed you would have to smoke?
Anyways, the first step is to combine the seasonings. The amount is totally up to you, but we’d suggest about 1/4 cup of equal parts Lawry’s and lemon pepper. Then, crush up a few handfuls of the BBQ chips and mix it all together. You can also choose to just crumble the chips on the chicken while it’s frying, but it might just be easier to combine them all at once.
Next, you’re going to want to cut each chicken wing in half, and you’re almost ready to start frying.
Heat the vegetable oil in the large cast iron pot or fryer at about 350 degrees F. Then, season the wings with your special seasoning, and throw them into the oil. Dredge the wings in flour AFTER they are seasoned, and you’re well on your way to some dank wings.
You’re going to want to fry the wings for about 8-10 minutes until they are golden and crispy on each side. Take the wings out, and drain them on a paper-towel lined plate. You might want to get a few plates to do this, or just fry the wings in batches.
Yup, that’s it. The wings are already done and ready to eat. Make sure you get good and stoned for this, to obviously maximize the flavor. And because Snoop Dogg wants you to be.
